Celebrating our remarkable students
On Thursday 19th of April, Longley Park Sixth Form College hosted its annual Awards Evening to celebrate the remarkable achievements of some of its top students. The event was hosted by the college Principal, Mo, alongside college governors and accompanied by the college’s team of Brand Ambassadors who captured the wonderful occasion. A red carpet was laid before the entrance of the Liversidge room along with plenty of other niceties such as a photo booth and a stand serving complementary snacks and refreshments (the students were truly able to celebrate in style!)
Opening the evening was Longley’s own musical talent Elliott who sang Wings by Birdy. Then after a massive, well deserved applause, Mo Nisbett gave her speech. Throughout she commended the hard work and effort every student present had dedicated to their studies as well as discussing the overall achievements of the college as a whole. The first round of awards were the ‘College Colours’, granted to those who deserved to be recognised for their contributions to college life. Student Adam Withers took home a scarf and certificate for his excellent dedication to his Health and Social Care course to which he responded ‘I’m just so proud of what I’ve achieved at Longley, and am excited to see what the future holds!.’
The night then progressed to the awards sponsored by local schools and colleges such as Ecclesfield School, Hinde House School and Firth Park Academy, all individually dedicated to different subjects and skills. One award was nominated by students of the college and given to year 1 student, Zainab ‘being kind to everyone around her’. Shortly after, the evening was drawn to a close by Elliott who stunned us once more with her rendition of ‘Read All About It’ by Emile Sande.
No student, parent or member of staff left this event without a smile and we’re already looking forward to next year!
