IT Practitioners, BTEC Level 3 Certificate/Subsidiary Diploma

Each Subsidiary Diploma is equivalent to one A Level. You will take a qualification in year one which is the equivalent of half an A Level. In year two you will take a qualification which is the equivalent of a full A Level. You would normally take other A Levels or BTECs alongside.

You will need at least 4 GCSEs at A*-C (grade 9-4). You will normally need at least a grade C/4 in English Language and Maths. Non- GCSE qualifications like BTEC Level 2 in a related area can count towards this total.

You will improve your knowledge and practical skills in Information and Communications Technology, including web design and e-commerce, data communications, expert systems and computing.

You’ll find out about how computer systems work and learn how to use different applications. Assignments are based on workplace situations so you will get a real insight into the careers available in IT and what it is like to work in industry. You will have access to IT facilities at College for classroom activity and private study.

• Website production

• Computer animation

• Spreadsheet modelling

 

 

You will need at least 4 GCSEs at A*-C (grade 9-4). You will normally need at least a grade C/4 in English Language and Maths. Non-GCSE qualifications like BTEC Level 2 in a related area can count towards this total, but we will also look at your overall academic profile.

You do not need to have a formal qualification in IT to take this course, but you should have some experience of using IT applications.

 

You will be assessed through practical projects and assignments.

In the first year you will take a Level 3 Certificate which is the equivalent of half an A Level. In the second year you will take the Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma which is equivalent to an A Level.
