This is a practical, work related course that will appeal to students who want to go on to further study or work in the care sector. The course will cover areas such as care needs, care practice and physical care. You will complete projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations and have the opportunity to meet professionals who work in care. Health and Social Care AS/AS (Double Award)

The Applied GCE in Health and Social Care will appeal to you if you want to work in the Health and Social Care sector. The course covers a variety of areas such as: Health, Care of older people, Individuals with specific needs and also Early Years (care and education). The course is the equivalent of 2 A Levels so you will normally take other courses alongside.  Year 1 is equivalent to 2 x AS and year 2, 2 x A2.

What is the aim of the course?

The Applied GCE will help you develop the skills and confidence to work in Health and Social Care. You will find out about the needs of different client groups and how they are supported in different Health and Social Care settings. This course includes essential work placement so you develop practical skills and work alongside Health and Social Care Professionals.

You will be encouraged to question, imagine and argue and learn to challenge written and visual evidence to reach your own conclusions. You will study contrasting regimes such as Nazi Germany and the democracies of Britain and the USA.
