Monitoring System

Attendance at all your classes and tutorials is essential if you are to succeed at College. The College will register you in each of your classes and each week you will be able to review your attendance with your Progress Tutor. If you begin to have problems, we will try to sort them out with you. This will involve contacting your parents if appropriate.

Our target as a College is to have an attendance record which matches the best colleges in the country. We want to celebrate the success of students who have good attendance and the outstanding exam results and other achievements this will bring. We will talk to students about the type of special events that could be used to recognise success - with options ranging from a 'College Colours' system to a visit to Euro-Disney for the Tutor Group with the best attendance record.

There are serious consequences to poor attendance. Almost always, poor attendance reduces your examination grades and your chances of moving on to a good job or university course. Poor attendance breaks your College Contract and if it doesn't improve, you can be asked to leave. Students who attend less than 90% of their programme will also forfeit their right to free entry for examinations and will be asked to pay a £50 contribution towards this. Poor attendance also has an impact on payment made through the Education Maintenance Award System.
