For anyone who has previous experience of Arabic at GCSE or who has existing language skills. You will study different themes relating to current affairs, traditions and culture which will involve reading on a wide range of topics and also Arabic grammar and vocalisation.

For anyone with an interest in the past. Archaeology is the study of past societies from the physical traces they have left behind them. This course will give you an insight into the principles, methods and chief discoveries of archaeology.

This course develops the skills and knowledge needed in an admin role. If you are already responsible for a number of standard admin tasks in your work, this course will build on your skills and experience.

For anyone interested in a career in the fitness industry or in developing an understanding of the principles of fitness training You will plan and perform an exercise programme, assist a qualified instructor in teaching a session and understand the body and its responses to exercise.
Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools (NCFE Level 2)

This course is for anyone who wants to develop the skills to work as a teaching assistant. It will look at all aspects of the role including managing behaviour and supporting the teacher. You may be a volunteer within a school or already employed and want to gain a qualification to support your work. The course requires you to do a work placement.
Childcare - Certificate in Developing Skills for Early Years Practice (NCFE Level 2)

This course gives you the skills and confidence to work with young children in a wide variety of settings including as a nursery or pre-school assistant. It will give you a solid foundation of knowledge and practical skills that will equip you for the workplace. A work placement is a requirement of the course.
Childcare - Working with Children (NCFE Level 1) 
Start: Sept 08 or Feb 09 tbc (for 18 teaching weeks)

A basic introduction to working with children. You will develop your skills in the main areas of childcare work and have the opportunity to put these into practice in a work placement during the final 6 weeks.
CISCO Certified Network Associate (CCNA)

For practitioners with at least 1 year?s experience of working with and managing or maintaining networks or of teaching networking to at least A level standard. Taught in our dedicated laboratory, there is a mix of whole-class teaching and individual online learning. Many practical sessions using virtual networks as well as real networking components.
Computers for Beginners

An introduction to basic hardware and software, using programmes such as MS Word, creating, saving and printing documents.
ECDL (European Computer Driving Licence) (Level 1 & 2)

An internationally-recognised qualification which enables you to develop your IT skills in a range of areas including word-processing, spreadsheets, databases and presentations. Reasonable keyboard skills, good mouse control and a basic understanding of computer terminology is essential. No prior knowledge of any of the units is necessary.

Offers core and expert level training in five individual applications: Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook and Access. For experienced users of those applications who are familiar with Windows and confident using a mouse. Not suitable for beginners.
Painting & Drawing for Beginners

The course is ideal for anyone interested in taking up careers in health and social care, sports and teaching.
