Student support

Being a student isn’t always easy. At Longley Park we understand that completely. From planning your journey to College to arranging specialist support for learning or language needs, our dedicated Student Services team is there to listen, advise and support every step of the way. You’ll find Student Services and Support in the College Plaza and you can call in anytime to find out more about how we can help.

We aim to support you throughout your time at College. We want you to be successful and achieve your full potential. In order to do this we will work with you to identify any barriers to learning and provide you with the best support to help you overcome them. The Student Support Centre has specialist staff who work with individuals and small groups to address any concerns or problems which might be holding you back in your learning. Mentoring support is available if you need someone to talk to or to help you with a particular situation.

During induction, at the start of the year, you will complete a computerised learning assessment. This will identify the learning style that suits you best and also identify any specific problems with English and Maths so that your Academic Tutor and teachers can put the appropriate support in place. They will work with you to create an individual programme, which may involve attending the Learning Support Centre. Dyslexia assessments can also be arranged if these are required. All subject teams offer extra support with coursework and exam preparation. Your teachers will let you know about extra sessions that you can go to for help.

The Student Services team also assist students in setting up and running student-led activities, such as the Student Union and peer support.
