What The Students Say
We asked why students in North Sheffield are excited about Longley Park Sixth Form College:
“It’s brilliant we’ve had a sixth form college opened near us so that there’s lots of new facilities around us and a lot of new courses. I think it will help people in this area because a lot of people I know don’t live very close to other colleges, so they didn’t have much ambition, but now that this one’s been opened they’ve seen the plans for the facilities and the courses that they can take and so they’ve all focused a bit more on what they can do after school. I’m looking forward to the fact that it’s a sixth form and a college combined, so that you get the support from the sixth form element combined with the independence of a new college.”
“There’ll be my friends there, and I’ll be meeting lots of new people who’ll all be my age. I’m looking forward to using the new facilities such as the IT suite, the media and the drama studio as we’ll be the first to experience using them. That’ll be great.”
“I’m hoping it will expand my knowledge and help me to go higher in education, like university”.
“I’ve been quite panicky thinking if I don’t get 5 A-C’s I’m not going to get on any courses and I like that there are courses at different levels so you can get a course you like. It’ll build a lot on your independence and confidence.”
“It’ll help to take me from the level I’m at here at school to the level where I’ll be able to work, because I think there’s a big difference.”
