Details

Do you enjoy reading texts from different times? Do you want to know what inspired writers to create their works? If so, this is the perfect course for you. On our A Level English Literature course you will get the chance to read, analyse and discuss a wide range of texts from across the genres and literary periods, including the Gothic novel, dystopian literature, the Romantic period and tragic drama.

What will I study?

Our A Level English Literature students follow the Edexcel specification. There are individual units which cover each of the three genres - prose, poetry and drama as well as a coursework unit in which you are able to compare two texts of your own choice. This is a great opportunity to analyse the type of literature you really enjoy!

Our English Literature students gain a real insight into the process of writing and publishing through bespoke writing workshops with published authors. They are also able to experience texts in production through regular theatre visits and opportunities to meet those involved in staging performances.

How will I be assessed?

This course is assessed through exams (80%) and coursework (20%).
