What will I study?
You will develop the ability to communicate confidently in written and spoken Spanish with a high level of grammatical accuracy. The topics studied will build on your GCSE and move you towards speaking Spanish fluently and cover: • Education and employment in Spain and the Spanish speaking world • Family life in Spanish culture • Literature and film of Spain • Media • Equality and Diversity in the Spanish speaking world You will work in a supportive learning environment where small group tasks build your confidence and teaching staff provide all the help and encouragement you need to excel. You will have dedicated time each week to practice your conversations skills with a fluent speaker.
How will I be assessed?
100% examination: Oral assessment (30%), listening, reading and translation (50%), writing (20%)
What can I do next?
There are over 400 million speakers across the world, so studying Spanish language is an excellent way of enhancing your international career prospects. You will also develop linguistic and reasoning skills that are important for any academic route. In addition to studying Languages at university, A Level Spanish is also an asset for degrees in Law, Marketing, PR, Teaching, Journalism and Communications.
