Safeguarding and Prevent

Longley Park Sixth Form has a statutory duty to safeguard and promote the welfare of children.

In carrying out this duty, we work to the following expectations:

  • Ensuring student safety and care
  • Protection from abuse and neglect
  • Prevention from bullying and harassment
  • Promoting student health and development
  • Ensuring students are offered the best life chances

We have a dedicated team of staff who have safeguarding responsibilities. The Safeguarding Team consisting of Donald McLean, Designated Safeguarding Lead, Tania Hussey-Yeo, Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead and Vicky Bark, Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead. The Primary Safeguarding Team are responsible for safeguarding matters across Longley Park.

If you have a safeguarding concern you should report it to a member of the Safeguarding Team or a member of the Leadership Team who has all been appropriately trained to manage safeguarding issues.

We provide as much support as possible to all students who share concerns with us as we recognise that sharing concerns can be difficult to do. We have a range of support including Wellbeing Room and counselling.

We also work extensively in partnership with external agencies to provide support appropriate to your needs. Agencies include Social Care, Health and housing services.
