Overview

The emphasis is on practical work and the development of your own portfolio. Throughout the course, you will have opportunities to work alongside professional artists and designers to give you a greater understanding of the creative industries.

Year One:

Project 1: Observing the everyday

Project 2: Fine art approaches and materiality

Project 3: Art and society

Independent project

Year Two:

Component 1: Personal investigation

Component 2: Externally set assignment

In both units students create a personal project that explores their specific area of focus through contextual research, visual language, reflective practice and creating a decisive conclusion to their project

 A number of specifications will be changing and prospectus entries are based on information we have to date. This means that course content may be subject to change.

 

How will it be delivered?

Formal assessment of A Level Fine Art takes place in the second year.

Component one - 60% of final grade

Component two - 40% of final grade with exam 

What can I do next?

Students studying A Level Fine Art are able to progress to a range of relevant higher education courses or careers, some of which include; Fine Art, Graphic Design, Illustration, Art therapy, Interior and Spatial Design, Production Design (theatre/television/film.) Web Designer, Curation and Animation.
