Overview

Criminology is about much more than the study of crime - it is about the factors that lead people to commit crime, the ways in which society responds to crime and the effects of crime on individuals and society as a whole. If you want to find out more about criminological theories, about the ways in which crime scenes are investigated and how sentences are decided then studying criminology would be a great choice.

Our Level 3 Applied Criminology students complete the WJEC Diploma in Criminology. This is a two year course comprising four units. In the first year students learn about the different types of crime and how attitudes to crime can be changed as well as criminological theories (including sociological and biological approaches). In year 2 students learn about how crime scenes are investigated and how sentences are set.

Our Criminology students will have the opportunity to develop their understanding of how the police investigate crime drawing on real life cases and experiences.

A number of specifications will be changing and prospectus entries are based on information we have to date.  This means that course content may be subject to change.

How will it be delivered?

Examination + controlled assessment.
