To create innovative, exciting games, the industry needs more than just computer programmers. It needs artists and storytellers. This course will prepare you for working in the creative side of the games industry and give you the skills to explore one of the worlds most exciting new art-forms.
Interested in working in the games industry? On this course you'll get to learn a wide range of professional skills and software, including 3D digital modelling, concept art, animation and graphic design. You'll also develop your own ideas for video games using character design, world building and storytelling skills. We'll also be exploring how the games industry works and equipping you with essential skills you can take into all kinds of future careers. You'll be able to develop your own specialisms throughout throughout the course and discover your strengths. Where you choose to take these skills is up to you.
A number of specifications will be changing and prospectus entries are based on information we have to date. This means that course content may be subject to change.
Portfolio and completion of a final project each year. There are no exams.
The games industry is a huge employer, with a diverse range of jobs, including concept artists, character designers, 3D modellers, level designers, animators and game designers. Alternatively, the skills you learn on this course could also prepare you for other creative industry careers such as illustration, special effects, graphic design, architecture and product design. Many of our students have gone on to study game design and other creative courses at university.
