Below, you will find some information about the changes to
normal lessons for students this week. I would also like to give a signpost to
our next consultation event on Tuesday, 19th December – information
about this will follow next week.
Trial Exams – Monday 4th to Wednesday 6th December
Many of you are sitting trial exams this week Monday –
Wednesday. You will know if they have a trial exam and have received dates and
times for the exams. These assessments will give you the opportunity to
experience assessments under full exam conditions and support them to identify
areas where further work is needed. Make these assessments count – the next time
some of you sit an assessment, it will be a full exam in January!
Unless you have been told otherwise, you are expected to
attend lessons as normal throughout these three days.
Industry Insight Day – Thursday 7th December
Thinking about what comes next is an important element of a your
time at Longley Park. To help you make informed decisions we are
launching our annual Industry Insight Day on Thursday 7th
December. All students will need to complete this activity either at home
or in the ILC in sixth form if they prefer.
You will need to complete a virtual work experience activity
during the day. This will help you gain a better understanding of careers
linked to the subjects you are studying. Teachers have signposted you towards
different opportunities available. All students must complete one of these
activities during the day.
Once back in sixth form you will be asked to evidence what they undertook as
part of the day which will then be discussed by staff. Should you be
unsure of the activities you should be completing you must speak to their
teachers before the day.
Students should use this time wisely on the day to make sure
you take full advantage of this opportunity and consider which careers might
offer you the kind of opportunities you would like to pursue.
All students should attend normal lessons on Friday 8th December.
