You will learn about the care needs of different groups, including the elderly, young children and people with disabilities and how care professionals meet these needs. This course allows you to discover various topics around health and social care. You understand how we grow and develop as humans, from conception through childhood, into adulthood and finally old age
Additionally, you will have the opportunity to learn about the specific roles and professions within the health and social care sector as well as their individual responsibilities. Assignments are based on realistic workplace scenarios to further support your awareness of the expectations of working in health and social care. Furthermore, work experience is an essential part of the course and will give you an opportunity to practice skills and work alongside other professionals.

Students from this course have gone on to university to study social work, adult social care, child social care, nursing, paramedic studies, mental health nursing and occupational therapy. We work in partnership with Sheffield Hallam University, Sheffield University and many others who offer a range of courses in related areas. Some students go on to employment in a health and social care setting.
