Overview

This qualification combines learning in the classroom with a weekly placement in an early years setting where you will be able to put theory into practice.

You will study a variety of topics including:

  • Roles and responsibilities of the Early Years Practitioner
  • Health and safety early years
  • Equality, diversity and inclusive practice
  • Safeguarding, protection and welfare in early years
  • Child development
  • Support care routines for babies and young children
  • Planning and delivery of activities and purposeful play opportunities
  • Promote play in an early years setting
  • Support well-being of babies and young children
  • Support babies and young children to be physically active
  • Special Educational Needs and Disability
  • Promote positive behaviour in early years settings
  • Partnership working in the early years
  • Support the needs of the child to prepare for school

How will it be delivered?

You will be assessed through a combination of course work and assessment in placement. Successful completion of all assessments will award you a license to practice at level 2.

What can I do next?

After this course you may be able to progress on to the Level 3 T-Level qualification or an apprenticeship. You may also be able to progress onto employment as a level 2 early years practitioner with your license to practice.
